Thank you for stopping by Spiffy Eats. Today I am sharing a recipe with you that is not only rich in complex flavor, but really simple to make. Make it clean eating by putting it over a side of brown rice or paleo by putting it over a fried egg. Both options are easy and tasty. First, I would like to share a bit of my friend Amber's story. You have heard from Amber before in her post, "Free the Chicks" , where she wrote about the reasons for choosing pastured eggs and chickens. Amber is a school teacher who holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and a BS in Early Childhood Education and...

Two problems, one solution. 1. I've had an Elite Pressure Cooker collecting dust in my cabinets for months. 2. I've had an insane desire to make some delicious bone broth. Solution: Why not use my pressure cooker to make a fast bone broth? All of the bone broth recipes I have seen require several hours on the stove or in the crock pot. A couple weeks ago I stumbled upon the Swell Living Blog. Finally, someone was telling me that this far fetched thought of mine was attainable! I adapted the recipe a bit to fit my style and here is what I came up with. I grabbed 1/4 of a cabbage, carrots,...

Cold and flu season is already here and I intend to bid it farewell immediately! After researching endlessly for immune boosting foods I have put together a fantastic tasting chicken soup. This soup is loaded with a lot of good things to boost your immunity. The turmeric is a quick acting anti-inflammatory. The garlic and lemon are both natural antibiotics. The veggies are loaded with vitamins. The chicken stock is full of amino acids that will speed recovery time, and the list goes on and on. Basically, if you are feeling a cold coming on, or right in the middle of the dreadful thing, this...

Summer is a fun, active time of year for me. There are days when I want to spend as much time as possible outdoors jogging, cycling, or going to the river with my friends. It can be very easy to make less than healthy choices on days like this. Opting for a quick drive thru or munching on snack food from the convenience store. I have found that making simple salads in the evening opens up the next day for more healthy and CLEAN EATING options. This recipe is a base. I use these staple veggies and add all kinds of variations throughout the Summer. I hope this helps you make good choices for...
