Sometimes we are just not motivated to be creative or step outside our comfort zones. We have habits, and breaking those routines can seem like a big challenge.

Today I want to share with you 5 simple swaps I have made to improve my health and allow me to live more naturally. These small steps out of your comfort zone, can make a big difference in your health and the health of your family.

1. Spaghetti squash in place of pasta

This simple swap will have your tummy feeling happy and your taste buds too! I simply get a sharp knife, cut the spaghetti squash in half and bake at 350 in 1/2 inch of water for about 40 minutes. I then use a fork to remove the "noodles" and use it wherever I would use spaghetti noodles! We eat spaghetti squash all the time and love not feeling bloated after a meal.

2. Coconut oil and lavender oil instead of night cream

Over the years I have read so many studies linking body care and cosmetic products to cancer and disease. It's simply not worth the risk, especially when this swap exists! Take about 1/4 cup of solid, organic, cold processed coconut oil, and add 3-6 drops of therapeutic grade lavender oil (to avoid the pyramid schemes and get the highest quality, I use Native American Nutritionals brand). Mix the oils together, store in a glass jar with a lid and use at night instead of face cream. I have noticed my skin clearing up and my wrinkles lessening using this combo.

3. Bone broth in place of traditional chicken stock

Many recipes call for chicken stock. There are so many more health benefits to using bone broth, and it is really simple to make! Our video shows you how to make this nutrient rich broth and store it for up to six months in the freezer!

4. Vinegar lemon cleaner in place of chemical all purpose cleaners

Spraying harsh chemicals into your home on a daily basis is not only agitating to your nostrils, but can be very harmful for your family and pets. By doing this simple swap, you will notice your house is sparkly clean and your family and pets are breathing much easier! Did I mention it boosts your mood too? Find the recipe here!

5. Meditating instead of falling asleep to my phone

This is a habit I am still attempting to master. For years I have fallen asleep reading articles on Pinterest, watching Simon's Cat videos, or cracking up at the Oatmeal comics. But I have noticed a huge difference in my quality of sleep now that I am meditating to a guided meditation as I lay down for sleep. Not to mention all the benefits meditation has on your daily life!

These are 5 swaps I am making to improve my health. What are some of your favorite healthy alternatives to traditional foods and activities?
