The first time I stepped foot into this lovely establishment located in the heart of the Avondale community, I fell in love. The vibe that greets you is one of warmth, neighborly love, and friendship. I have frequented a few times a month over the last year and loved chatting with Carrie and Noah as they made my whole milk lattes. The Abbey proudly serves a vast array of local products including Red Bike Coffee , Leaf N Petal teas , Bread Works Breads and they make their own pastries and sandwiches in house. Their pimento cheese sandwich is one of my very favorites! In my most recent visit, I...

When I was a little girl, my mom and I would go into Christmas shops. I distinctly remember the smell of cinnamon being in each store. Sometimes the stores would have hot apple cider to sip as you shopped. Those were my favorite. The taste and smell of spicy cider brings me back to those amazing times. We first tried this drink at our friend's wedding and completely fell in love. The crisp taste of apples and the hint of cinnamon will have you in a festive mood right away.

I hope we will share the stories we know, and not hide from our past. It is only the knowledge that we are able to grow stronger. We wanted to share with you a recipe that is traditional for the Alabamee Indian Tribe, who lived in what is now...
