One of my favorite things in the entire world is family recipes. I love hearing stories of my family gathered together enjoying special recipes. It's amazing how a certain smell or taste can bring us right back to a certain time in our lives. Grandma's biscuits, Mom's buttermilk pie, Dad's chili, Mama Rose's sausage bread. Each one holds special memories of incredible people in my life. Today's recipe is one that was introduced to me by my boyfriend's mother. She is an amazing cook and I feel like I learn something from her every time we spend time together. A few years ago for Christmas she...

I LOVE BACON! Seriously, you guys, I really love bacon. So often, I hear my family members asking me for health advice. They say things like, "I eat pretty healthy, but sometimes I do have bacon." They get this guilty look on thier face apologizing to me for eating bacon. Try as I may to conivince them that bacon is not the enemy we have been trained to think it is... they never seem convinced. We purchase bacon that is ethically sourced and free of added sugars. And we eat it several times a week. Read more here about why healthy fats are so vital to your health! WE SHOULD ALL EAT MORE BACON...

Today is an important day. Thanksgiving is the celebration of our country's freedom from religious tyranny in England. It is also a day of sadness for many. The genocide of countless native people occurred and cannot be ignored. As we eat our turkey and give thanks for the many incredible blessings, I hope we all will remember the history of this day. I hope we will share the stories we know, and not hide from our past. It is only the knowledge that we are able to grow stronger. We wanted to share with you a recipe that is traditional for the Alabamee Indian Tribe, who lived in what is now...

You guys know that I love some Jalapeno Honey from Garden Honey Bee, here in Alabama . This spicy sweet awesomeness has so many different uses. This year I had the pleasure of visiting their booth at the Market Noel . I adore the rustic design they have put together. John and Brenda are so passionate about their honey and it is apparent in the quality of their amazing creations. Market Noel 2015 at the Garden Honey Bee Booth Tonight I created an all purpose sauce that can be used on anything you like. We used it to glaze this roasted pork tenderloin and it turned out amazing!

Today we had the privelege of enjoying brunch at one of the newest spots in Birmigham- Feast and Forest . Feast and Forest is a unique restaurant located in a quiet corner of historic Birmingham. As soon as we walked up to the store front, I knew this place had my heart. Feast and Forest is owned by the same talented folks who call themselves The Baking Bandits. I love their scones and get one as often as possible from Pepperplace Market. We love seeing their dream of having a store front come to life! And let me tell you how awesomely delicious the food was! I had the Farm Egg Salad. The...

This month one of my best friends in is moving very far away. Mandy and I have been friends for almost two years, but it feels like we have always known one another. When I first moved to Birmingham I was very lonely. I had left all of my friends and family to come to a brand new city and start a new chapter in my life. Mandy was one of the first friends that I made. Mandy has one of the most genuine hearts of anyone I have ever known. Her spirit radiates love, honesty and grace. I know that no matter what things I bring to her to speak about, she will lend me a kind and understanding ear. As...

This time of year my mind always wanders back home. The sights and sounds of the holidays instantly take me back to the pond where my cousins and I used to feed the ducks, while my grandmother prepared the most amazing meals. I remember one holiday waking up to see the pond had frozen over! It rarely got this cold in Mississippi and I thought it was the most magical thing I had ever seen. My aunts, uncles, and cousins would all pile into my grandparents house, be it Thanksgiving or Christmas. We laughed together, shared our dreams, and told the most exagerated outlandish stories you can ever...
