Golden Milk
I woke up this morning with swollen, puffy eyes, stinging ears, and a headache. I don't think my body is as excited about the Birmingham Fall as I am. I thought about making my Immune Boosting Chicken Soup, but realized I do not have that kind of time today. After dragging myself into work two hours late, I did a little research on Golden Milk in between clients.
Here is what I found out. Golden Milk is believed to:
1. Act fast as an anti-inflammatory
2. Improve brain functions
3. May reduce risk of heart disease and Alzheimers
I decided to take it a step further and instead of using simply milk and turmeric I used Organic Chicken broth that contains amino acids that will speed recovery times for sickness. I also added ginger that contains antibacterial qualities. A sprinkle of pepper allows the turmeric to be absorbed properly into your body. Instead of using honey to mask the bitterness of the turmeric, I chose to go the savory route. My recipe is a bit more like a fast soup that only takes 15 minutes to prepare.
First gather all your ingredients: 3/4 cup chicken broth, 1 1/4 cup whole fat coconut milk, 1 tablespoon ground turmeric, piece of ginger, sprinkle of pepper.
Next combine all ingredients into a small pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir constantly.
Allow the milk to reach a simmer, but not a boil. Simmer for 2 minutes, while still stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and cover. Allow to sit, covered for 10 minutes.
Grab out the piece of ginger and enjoy your Golden Milk. I am drinking mine as we speak and I am hopeful that you will enjoy yours too! Thank you for reading!

This sounds so delicious! I wonder if you can use the golden milk as a base for a soup too, and add veggies and stuff.

I am actually planning on blogging that soon! I use the exact recipe as a base for chicken and rice soup. I add chicken, rice, more chicken broth, and veggies. It works great!
