When I attended the Market Noel this weekend, I had the honor of meeting one of the kindest people I have met in my entire life. Brenda Belcher, the owner of Garden Honey Bee. Here is a picture of Brenda and her husband, John, the beekeeper!

Brenda's talent of creating absolutely delicious honey is only surpassed by her passion for the honey bee. Brenda's heart lies in educating others on the purpose of the bee and the impact bees have on our daily lives.  Bees sustain our lives by pollinating over $15 billion worth of crops each year in the U.S. We love bees for their honey, but who knew they were so important? Brenda taught me that one worker bee only produces 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey her entire life. Read that again. 1/12 of a teaspoon! We need to do whatever we can to protect these precious creatures.

I will now step off my honey bee soap box to tell you all that I got to try the jalapeno honey that I wrote about in my Market Noel blog post. Let me tell you, this stuff did not disappoint. It is so flavorful. The sweetness of the Alabama honey, combined with the spice of the jalapeno will leave you with a smile on your face. I cannot wait to make a vinaigrette with this! And a sauce for chicken! And I've already used it as a dipping sauce! I absolutely love this honey!

I also discovered that Brenda creates bath and body products. All sorts of items! From scrubs to lotions to soaps to lip balm! She uses a tiny bit of the beezwax from the honey comb in the body products. The beezwax helps seal in moisture to keep your skin soft and also contains a small amount of natural SPF. How great is that! Meeting our local beekeepers was an amazing experience. Cannot wait to see them again at Pepper Place Market and stock up on more amazing honey products! I hope you'll do the same! For info on purchasing any of their products visit their website Garden Honey Bee. Don't forget to like their facebook page too! Suppor small, local honey. It makes a difference.
