If you've ever thought "I'll take stunning pictues of food once I can afford the right equipment. The proper lighting, props, and camera equipment," I'm here to tell you YOU DON'T HAVE TO.

I took this shot with just natural light and a few simple props. In the spirit of complete transparency, today I'm taking you behind the scenes of one of my favorite shoots to date.

This shot was inspired by the incredible work from the super talented Tina Dawson of Love is in my tummy and her lavender lemonade recipe. I used purple pea flower to get this striking purple, but stayed true to the gorgeous vibe she shared in her original shot. Incorporating a very dark background with a very bright subject.

Now, if you saw this shot on Instagram you might think, "wow, she must have a beautiful kitchen and the most stunning artificial studio light setup", but, yall, NO! This was shot on my dining room table with natural light from a window. Don't believe me? Here's a view of the behind the scenes!

I'm sharing this behind-the-scenes look with you for 2 big reasons.

1. To show that the "picture perfect" views we get on social media simply aren't the whole story. There's a world of things that go on behind-the-scenes.

2. You don't need fancy equipment to take stunning photos!
