Vegan Caribbean Jerk Marinade
I love Caribbean flavors in food. In American cuisine, it seems so often we place spices into one of two categories: savory or sweet. But, with Caribbean spices they do no such thing! I grew up thinking cinnamon was only used in desserts and salt was only used in savory foods. Boy, was I wrong!
This simple marinade recipe combines aromatic spices and coconut milk! I chose to use it to marinate shrimp, but it would be great on any kind of meat or veggies, or used as a sauce on top of a veggie and quinoa bowl.
Ingredients
1 T
Garlic Powder 2 t
Cayenne Pepper 1 t
Dried Oregano 2 t
Dried Parsley 2 t
Coconut Sugar 1 t
salt (more to taste) 1 t
Dried Paprika 1 t
Ground Allspice 1⁄2 t
Black Pepper 1⁄4 t
Ground Nutmeg 1 cn
Whole Fat Coconut MilkInstructions
Mix all dry ingredients together.
Next, add coconut milk (you may add more or less coconut milk depending on how strong you want the seasoning, I like mine to be pretty strong).
Add to anything you like as a marinade or sauce!
Enjoy!
